i've had this on my tbr for a while and i kept putting it off because i assumed it'd just be really horny and i haven't been in the mood for pwp. turns out, i didn't need to worry about that, because despite being pretty full of sex, it is anything but sexy. this is the most clinical and frankly gross depiction of sex work i've ever seen in fic. that said, i did actually enjoy the writing and the overall project of the story, which seems to have been about the stark reality of war and also kindness and belonging. but the universe itself is construted of only three relatively short pieces that read like pretty disconnected and out-of-order vignettes. so there's a lot left to be inferred. it was a slightly odd reading experience, but i enjoyed it. (tbc this is about the 4f universe fics in this anthology, not the entire thing.)
