beautiful and heartbreaking. this is one of the best stories i've ever read. so expertly realized and researched that i felt as if i lived in the same world ~80 years later. there is nothing here i don't love deeply. my only complaint is that it ended. & it seems there were plans for a sequel fic post-winter soldier that has never materialized. i've never wanted a fic to exist more, perhaps as another series of journal entries, where bucky comes to terms with all that has happened to him & he and steve actually get together. because while i didn't miss the inclusion of explicit stucky in the fic, i sure would love to see what those entries would look like and also it would heal me a little bit i think. boy i will be messed up over this one for a long time.

One of the OSS brass said to him “you’re lucky son, if you weren’t Captain America you’d be dead or court-martialed, and then dead” and Steve looked back at him and said “shame on you then” and walked away—there has never been a better man.
