im unsure ive ever been more conflicted about a story than i am about this one. it absolutely needs an edit, first of all. you could cut probably 25-50k words out of this and it would be much tighter. so, so many uses of the *a little* adverb that drove me up the walls. and TONALLY, the shift between a sweet T-rated stroy of self discovery and slow burn friends-to-lovers to like pure unadulterated smut for the last 20% was just too jarring.
the smut was good. it was really good. i loved it. but it felt out of place in this story. this is one of those fics where i fucking WISH the authors had an editor and that editor was me, because this could be a 10/10 story with some revisions.
i was feeling vaguely distressed the more i read at the end and realized it would be essentially nothing more than smut without a ton of emotional depth, but the epilogue in the form of an espn article 10 years in the future was so fucking good i almost cried.
i want to goat this one so badly because it had me by the throat for days, but i just cant sigh.
